For Pride Month 2024, we want to celebrate 2SLGBTQIA+ creatives who live in Montgomery and its surrounding communities.
Who can submit art?
River Region residents who identify as Two Spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, aromantic, transgender, intersex, non-binary or any other part of the 2SLGBTQIA+ rainbow.
Eligible artwork
Original artwork created by the submitting artist is eligible. Fan art, copies of other artists’ paintings, work from commercial kits, or works based on other artists’ instructions or patterns are ineligible. (You can, however, submit artwork with designs based on Pride flags or other Pride-related symbols. )
The goal of this Shop PopUp is to showcase and support the art of 2SLGBTQIA+ artists. The subject matter of the artwork does NOT have to be queer-themed.
Open to all media types. Photographers, painters, illustrators, jewelry artists, fiber artists, and other artists are welcome to submit work for consideration. Due to space constraints, the event may not be able to accommodate installation art or digital displays that require the use of screens and/or projectors. Free-standing sculptures should have an area footprint of one square foot or less.

Participating Artists
Aney Carver
I am a self-taught pyrography artist. I burn abstracts and portraits into wood and add watercolor in layers. I love to create bold pieces with lots of color on different wood canvases. I have a fresh and funky style that highlights people and abstract shapes. I started the business, Pyrocrafters, in 2016. And have two published books on pyrography.
Tamiah Coleman
I am a self-taught multidisciplinary artist here in Montgomery. I started my business six years ago and since then, I have had the privilege to work with well-known clients and businesses all over the world. I specialize in fine arts, digital design, and commercial art. I work with canvases, wood, walls, etc. I use different mediums; acrylic, watercolor, spray paint, clay, etc. I’m and mostly known for my custom portraits and murals for different businesses.
Zion Easterling
My name is Zion Easterling. I am a 19-year-old African American photographer, also known as White_storieZ. I use conceptual and literal concepts to create my art. As an artist, I love my art to connect with people of all ages, so to create my art, I not only create by making digital art with colorful graphics, but I also love to create with the timelessness of film for a vintage mood. I use film and digital art to be versatile with my art form, to never be stagnant, and to always create.
Jonathan Marks
I am a self-taught linoleum block printmaker. I am a graphic designer by trade who very recently delved into the medium of block printing. I illustrate characters that inhabit and evoke scenarios I create in my head with heavy influences from my peers and my own life experiences. I illustrate and then transfer onto the lino block. It is then carved and printed onto paper, shirts, and totes (for now).
Korey Rowswell
Korey Rowswell creates hand-embroidered landscapes of Alabama. He uses stitching as a sculptural medium to create depth and immersion in his pieces. He has exhibited in galleries and art spaces across the United States. Korey received a BA in art history from Hastings College in 2009. He has also lived and shown in Japan. From his vintage kimono collection, he creates bespoke travel and project bags.
Joanne Staley
I am a certified art teacher and have been actively working in art, specializing in silversmithing, painting, and fiber art for 50 years. Recently I have concentrated on making one-of-a-kind jewelry in sterling silver, copper, and brass. I often incorporate regional stones and texture my metal with traditional metal techniques such as acid etching and fold hammering.
Matthew Valverde
Painter and graphic designer, I enjoy making art with my fountain pens and waterproof black ink. My commissions include painting portraits as well as painting homes. I often take my sketchbook with me when I travel; it gives me the opportunity to practice my urban sketching and document my travels. Graphic design gives me the creative outlet to solve problems and work with small businesses in Montgomery.
Tania Walker
Tania Walker was born in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1996. The third of three children, it was easy to get lost in the crowd. One thing that separated Tania was her artistic abilities. Many years later, after witnessing a suicide, Tania turned to art for healing. She took up watercolor portraiture in September 2021. Drawing inspiration from Basquiat, Klimt, and Schiele, she focused on form while adding abstractions. Overtime, she has developed an easily identifiable, unique style.
Sara Crocker
Sara Crocker loves guiding her students through creative experiences as they develop and engage in their creative process. Sara’s love of learning and making has led her to quilting, woodworking, stained glass, creative writing, and pottery. She has lived in many places, but feels most at home in the heat and humidity of the south. She enjoys her downtime by reading, cooking with her husband and traveling to big mountains and large bodies of water.
Urban Forest Photography
I have had a lifelong passion for photography and use my talent to allow others to travel through me. My style showcases a unique blend of urban scenery and natural landscapes and takes the viewer to places they may never be able to go. I see things for the potential beauty I can bring to life by expanding details onto wall-sized canvas prints.
