Overview
The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) has been awarded $280,000 by the Art Bridges Foundation, the national arts nonprofit founded by philanthropist Alice Walton, as part of their “Access for All” initiative. These funds will enable the MMFA to offer free programs through December 2026. The new initiative aims to increase access to museums across the country and foster engagement with local communities by covering the costs of programming, outreach, and community partnerships that together, will eliminate many common barriers to access.
The MMFA will use the funds to strengthen and deepen our commitment to the River Region by offering no-cost programs, camps, tours, and classes that are:
- Interdisciplinary, culturally responsive, and relevant to community interest;
- Led by local artists, creatives, and teachers;
- Accessible to those with limited transportation options through collaborations with local city and community groups
Studio Classes and Workshop Registration
All of our programs are FREE thanks to generous support from the Art Bridges Foundation’s Access for All grant. Our goal is to build lasting relationships with our community by making the MMFA more accessible to all visitors, starting with breaking down economic barriers such as program costs.
If Programs Are Free, Why Do I Have To Leave A Credit Card?
Our programs have limited seating, and often our classes sell out quickly. When you register for a class, you are holding a space that is no longer available to others. For this reason, we charge a temporary hold to your credit card when you register. When you attend the class, that amount is refunded back to your account.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made at least five (5) days before your scheduled program will avoid incurring the late fee.
To cancel, call 334-625-4361 or email education@mmfa.org at least five (5) days in advance of the scheduled class or program date. If you cancel before this deadline, your credit card will not be charged a cancellation / no-show fee.
Late Cancellations / No-Shows
A cancellation is considered late when the participant cancels less than 5 days before the program or class date. A no-show is when a registrant does not attend the class without canceling. In either case, we will charge the registrant the class fee.
Any individual who is “unbanked” but wishes to register interest may contact education@mmfa.org to register directly.
