Figuratively Speaking: Words and Images by Student Artists
January 26 through March 24, 2019
On view in the ArtWorks Corridor Gallery
In connection with the upcoming contemporary ceramics exhibition, About Face, student artists are asked to explore the human figure and how their ideas about the body are influenced by media and our material culture. Students were asked to express this not only visually but also using words. Statements, poems and other verbal expressions are installed alongside the visual artworks.
The ArtWorks Gallery is devoted to temporary exhibitions of student art, inspired by work on view elsewhere in the Museum. Throughout the year, the Museum juries and hosts themed shows, and guidelines encourage teachers to develop related lesson plans.
The ArtWorks corridor is sponsored by Regions Bank and the MMFA Junior Executive Board.
