Ke Francis: A Selection of Large-Scale Works
March 15 through June 15, 2014
In his work, Francis addresses the human condition and how we relate to nature. This exhibition highlights Francis’ large-scale works in a variety of formats including bookmaking and printmaking, mixed-media constructions, and painting. Through his combination of ancient symbols such as the Goddess Nike with contemporary imagery such as saw blades and tuning forks, along with elements from nature such as tornadoes, Francis taps into universal subjects such as disasters and rebuilding, strength and resiliency. He charts emotional and spiritual landscapes through complex and provocative imagery that evoke richly textured dreams and stories.
