Along the Shore: The Mississippi Gulf Coast in the Photography of Lyle Peterzell

June 23 through September 02, 2012

Lyle Peterzell was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and was a professional photographer for more than twenty-five years. He worked in Los Angeles, Nashville and Washington, D.C. before he returned home to live and work on the Gulf Coast.  His images of the landscape and natural environment there parallel the art of his predecessor, Walter Anderson, who documented that distinctive environment more than sixty years ago.  Peterzell used contemporary digital techniques to again capture that world in his own way—from the misty, water-graced coastline itself, to the manifestations of mankind’s imprint on that timeless world of land, sea and sky.

Organized by the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Montgomery, Alabama.
