Overview
Reflections tells a highly personal story of community and place through a selection from the extensive collection of costume designer and arts patron, Myrna Colley-Lee. The exhibition includes approximately 50 paintings, works on paper, and fabric works that present the lives, traditions, and environments of African Americans in the 20th century. Art by Romare Bearden, Elizabeth Catlett, Betye Saar, James Van Der Zee, Eudora Welty, Charles White, Hale Woodruff, and others is primarily figurative and representational. Genre scenes and landscape views present a snapshot of life within the African American community.
