Overview
Artists throughout history have included the moon and its gentle light to convey a sense of romance in their work.
In this installation of works from the Museum’s collection of works on paper, the moon is depicted as both compositional device and as symbol. Light is soft, surfaces gently reflective, but the moon is also a signifier of the night its darkness. The contrasts of daylight versus moonlight reference many states from the energies of the world of day versus the quiet rest of the night.
