Community Canvas with Winfred Hawkins

In celebration of the exhibition, Really Free: The Radical Art of Nellie Mae Rowe, artists of all ages were invited to paint a raw canvas. Participants covered the surface with bright colors and patterns, and then local artist Winfred Hawkins unified the works into a complete composition.

This program was intergenerational; every community member creating artwork together, bridging the gap between different age groups through creative expression and welcoming everyone into creative storytelling. The Art Bridges Foundation funded this community art project in connection with the the exhibition, Really Free: The Radical Art of Nellie Mae Rowe
