Art Connects

Works from the Vault Curated by the Community

August 7 through September 19, 2021

On view in the Atrium, Blackmon, Goldman, Richard, and Rushton Stakely Galleries

Overview

This presentation of works from the MMFA Permanent Collection provides an opportunity for community voices to shape an exhibition. Members of the community will work in tandem with MMFA staff to select their favorite works of art from our vault, bringing to light pieces that are rarely on view. Accompanying each selection will be a short text about why the person selected the work and what it means to them, demonstrating how individuals react and respond to art in different ways.

Grouped within various themes, the exhibition will feature between 50 to 80 works of art. The wide-ranging selection will provide a fresh perspective on our collection, engage community members in new ways, and offer new contexts and connections among works of art from different periods, genres, and materials.
