Teens will participate in a mending/upcycling workshop that will teach them how to sew their own decorative patch. During the workshop, students will get a brief introduction to the global history of patching and mending garments and other textiles to prolong their use and combat “fast fashion”. Participants will also learn about how patches have been used in fashion to advocate for causes throughout history and will be encouraged to bring their own fabric to this workshop to use in their patch. We will finish the day with a tour of the Lesley Dill exhibition. There we will ask participants to share ways in which Lesley Dill’s work utilizes fiber arts to convey her meanings.

Space in this workshop is limited to 12 participants. $15 for non-members; $10 for members
