Moldmaking and Casting Workshop with Sawyer Rose

Saturday, January 10 at 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM

Overview

Join artist Sawyer Rose for a creative, immersive workshop where you’ll learn to make your own reusable silicone putty molds and explore casting with a range of materials including plaster, mortar, and even chocolate! Participants will leave with custom molds, finished castings, and a detailed take-home guide for continuing the process on their own.

All moldmaking and casting materials are included. You’re welcome to bring a small object (roughly 1–2 inches) that you’d like to replicate. Great options include smooth and non-porous items such as buttons, figurines, shells, or trinkets with interesting textures. Not sure if your object will work? Bring it along and we’ll take a look together.

As part of the workshop, Sawyer Rose will also lead a walkthrough of her exhibition The Carrying Stones Project and will discuss her artistic methods, her use of molding and casting in her large-scale sculptures, and the powerful stories of the women whose labor her work honors.
