Exploring Watercolor with Susan Hood

Saturday, January 29 at 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Designed for adults

Learn about the beauty of watercolors over two Saturday mornings in January from local artist Dr. Susan Hood! Participants in this workshop will gain a deeper understanding of the properties of watercolor and the possibilities of the medium. Beginners are welcome as are more experienced artists. The first session on Saturday, January 22, includes information about the history of the medium, the nature of the materials, and the techniques unique to the medium. Exercises in color theory and the utilization of negative space to create visual depth will follow on Saturday, January 29 and are both enjoyable and empowering. This four-hour workshop will be conducted by Dr. Hood on two consecutive Saturdays: Participants can explore content on their own after the first session, then return with questions at the second meeting.

Participants are asked to bring their preferred paintbrushes; the MMFA will provide all other materials for the workshop.
