ArtTalk: Student and Beginner Artists

Thursday, February 19 at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM

For Local Artists

Meet us in the Warren-Britt Galleries at ASU’s Tullibody Fine Arts Center (915 South Jackson Street, Montgomery, AL 36104) for the first ArtTalk of 2026! Visual artists of all experience levels and disciplines are invited to bring one piece of artwork for an informal community critique. For this session, we encourage student and/or beginner artists to share their visual art, participate in the critique, and interact with community interpretations of their work. Refreshments will be provided.

For more information, email Tiiwon Siaway at tsiaway@mmfa.org.

How to Critique Visual Art
1) Describe what you see.
2) Analyze how well the art piece uses the elements of art and principles of design.
3) Interpret the meaning of the artwork. What does it make you feel?
4) Decide if the art piece successful/unsuccessful to you. Why or why not?

Art Talk Facilitator: Alana Taylor-Francis

The artist known as Alana Enfinity is an internationally recognized multidisciplinary artist, curator, and educator whose practice weaves layered storytelling, abstraction, and symbolism into powerful visual narratives. With over a decade of experience in both fine art and arts education, she has exhibited nationally and internationally, with work shown at the Rosa Parks Museum, the Urban Art Fair in Paris, the Coleman Center for the Arts, and in private and institutional collections. As former Professor of Art at Alabama State University, Alana taught courses in graphic design, typography, and digital interactivity while also curating exhibitions at the Warren-Britt Galleries. She is a trusted mentor, advisor to the Student Art Organization, and a creative strategist who has built bridges between artists, institutions, and communities. Her leadership extends beyond academia—she is the founder of Mindful Meta Art- where initiatives blend art for restoration, healing, and community engagement. Alana has served as a distinguished speaker, juror, curator, and panelist across exhibitions, festivals, conferences, and grant programs, offering a discerning perspective shaped by academic rigor, creative leadership, and an inclusive vision. Alongside her artistic practice, she brings expertise in creative direction, art direction, and communications, enabling her to connect ideas, artists, and audiences with clarity and impact.

Her multifaceted background—as a practicing artist, professor, business owner, and community leader—reflects a deep understanding of the artistic process, a commitment to diversity in media and voice, and a passion for fostering creativity that resonates across professional, institutional, and cultural spaces.
