Overview
The 15th biennial—and final—Art Auction will soon commence, and the Museum plans to bid farewell with grandeur and style! Set against the backdrop of the Lowder Gallery, Art Auction 2021 opens to the public for silent bidding on Saturday, September 11th, with opportunities to bid in person during normal Museum hours through October 13.
The Gala event, scheduled for Thursday evening, October 14th, will begin in the John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden at 6:30 PM with cocktails and bidding on outdoor art. The evening will continue in the Lowder Gallery, where attendees will enjoy a gallery full of diverse auction items, hors d’oeuvres, and open bars.
The event is cocktail attire. Tickets are $65 each and are available for purchase through October 12, 2021, at 5 PM.
How Things Work
Bid numbers can be secured at the Museum or by contacting the Development Department (334-625-4348). The Art Auction catalogue including images and details of each item will be available in late August. In-person bidding is highly encouraged, but proxy early bids can be made by contacting the Development Department. Final proxy bids for those who cannot attend the gala event can also be set by contacting the Development Department. All auction items have an opening bid price and a minimum increase amount (indicated in the catalogue and in the gallery).
- Silent auction bid closings will be staggered, and the winning bid number will be posted on the item’s wall label as quickly as possible.
- The Museum requests that purchasers allow at least 30 to 45 minutes after the bidding closes for the Museum to process corresponding paperwork and to pack each piece before claiming artworks.
- All purchases are subject to 10% sales tax.
- MasterCard, Visa, American Express, cash, and checks, payable to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Association, are accepted. Credit cards fees will be passed onto the user at a flat use fee of 3%.
- All offerings are subject to the Conditions of Sale located in the back of the Art Auction catalogue.
