Art and design—though distinct in purpose— share some common elements. For instance, line, texture, color, and space are considered in sketches before clay sculptures are fashioned, presented, and critiqued in automobile design. Models are then translated by engineers, who create precise specifications for what many car owners describe as works of art.
The Museum will host an evening in the John and Joyce Caddell Sculpture Garden featuring some of the most exquisite, vintage, and state-of-the-art cars in Montgomery and the surrounding areas to celebrate the decades-long passion of car enthusiasts, collectors, and lovers of design. If you’re a car enthusiast, collector, or simply a lover of automobile design, then plan to join the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts for this year’s Spring fundraiser, Art and the Automobile. Tickets for the cocktail party and silent auction with automobile owners, dealers, and sponsors are $60 per person.
In the event of inclement weather, only a limited selection of the automobiles listed above will be on view, and the cocktail party and silent auction will be moved indoors.
Items will be available for online bidding beginning Monday, May 9. All final bids must be made in person, or someone can have a proxy bidder (friend who is attending) at the event on Friday, May 13.
Contact Brandy Morrison at 334.625.4365 or bmorrison@mmfa.org to request a bidding number in advance of the event.
Note: All purchases are subject to 10% sales tax and must be claimed and paid for on the event night. MasterCard, Visa, American Express, and checks payable to the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts Association are accepted. Credit card fees will be passed onto the user at a flat use fee of 3%.
