Overview
Join us for a memorable evening at the museum for Art After 5: Art Connects, a closing celebration for our temporary exhibition. This free event offers the perfect opportunity to mingle, celebrate, and reflect on the vibrant art from our collection that has brought us together through this exhibition.
Enjoy an open cash bar, savor light hors d’oeuvres, and soak in live music with performer Jamillah Bell during this last chance to engage with the inspiring works of Art Connects.
This event is free and open to the public.
From the Musician, Jamillah Bell:
My creative journey has placed me at the intersection of many dualities. From performing in banjo bands in Southern music halls to centering my electric guitar in a symphony orchestra’s performance of rock classics, I’ve experienced a wide breadth of musical expression.
My roots in Montgomery trace back to the 1850s, and I am no stranger to history. I consider myself, above all, a folk musician, but not in the traditional sense. To me, folk music is ‘music for folks.’ It’s a blend of the sacred and the downhome.
My vision is to use my art and music to connect people, to educate them about our shared history and culture, and to inspire them to dig deeper. I invite you to join me on this journey, to experience the transformative power of music and art, and to be part of the change we are creating.
