Studio Instructor: Sarah Tanner

“I find endless inspiration in color and nature, which serve as the foundation of my brightly colored mixed-media collages. My goal is to create an inviting escape into a joyful world—one that offers a sense of lightness amidst the weight of daily life. Art, for me, is both an expression and a refuge. Alcohol ink allows me to embrace vibrant hues while also welcoming the beauty of the unexpected. The fluid nature of the medium encourages spontaneity, creating intricate details that emerge naturally. Once the painting process is complete, I shift my focus to structure, refining the composition through collage. I love pushing the boundaries of traditional two-dimensional art by incorporating materials like buttons, wire, and beads, allowing elements to “float” within a shadowbox frame. Much of my work is rooted in my personal experiences with nature—each piece reflecting moments of connection and wonder. Through my art, I hope to share that same sense of joy, discovery, and escape with others.”
