Shadowlands: Cyanotypes by Laquita Thomson, 2007-2013
July 19 through September 21, 2014
Printmaker and photographer Laquita Thomson has been experimenting with various printing processes for most of her career. Her methods of making art compel her to “push the boundaries” of her various media, and in her own way, to revisit and reconsider media that have been abandoned or are underused by others.
The subjects of Thomson’s cyanotypes mirror those of her photography and prints, usually images of her native South. This exhibition will contain sixteen cyanotypes that reflect the flavor of the region, and capture both the nostalgic and romantic sensibility that is associated with life in “Dixie.”
Organized by the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts, Montgomery, Alabama.
