Panel Discussion: Uncommon Territory

To mark the bicentennial of Alabama’s creation as a territory, Uncommon Territory: Contemporary Art in Alabama includes both established makers along with younger, emerging artists to examine the current vitality of artistic creativity found throughout the state.
Following the opening reception f0r Uncommon Territory, exhibition curator Dr. Jennifer Jankauskas will moderate a panel discussion with four artists to reflect in their diverse ways of working and their careers.
- Jürgen Tarrasch, Birmingham-based abstract painter, who works in a variety of media
- Katie Baldwin, Huntsville-based printmaker, and multi-media artist, who’s narrative imagery relates to her place in the landscape
- Claire Lewis Evans, a Tuscaloosa-based installation artist, who creates drawings in space
- Stacey Holloway, Birmingham-based sculptor, who combines human and animal attributes in her narrative work to explore ideas of domesticity
