Art Ed Central Teacher Workshops

Art Ed Central, a regional division of the Alabama Art Education Association, meets monthly during the school year at the Museum, offering an opportunity for teachers and guest artists to share lesson plan ideas, view art in the Museum’s galleries, create hands-on art projects, network with other professionals, and earn certification credit hours.

Make It, Market, and Sell It

This seminar is designed for anyone interested in learning the various avenues for making money with their artwork. The day-long event includes short videos illustrating concepts that have worked very successfully for the instructor and a workbook covering topics such as: creating a product that people want, controlling expenses, creating and maintaining a website, using social media avenues, selling online, and much more! Class size is limited to 25.

Photo Editing on the Go

Photo editing applications were originally designed for desktop computers. Yet, due to the popularity of tablet computing (iPad, Google Nexus, Microsoft Surface, etc), photo editing is right at our fingertips. For this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of photo editing using Adobe Photoshop Touch.* Participants are encouraged to bring phones or tablets. If you do not have one, the Museum will have two iPads available for practical, hands-on experience.

Participants will learn to use acrylic gels to create surface texture, color mixing, glazing and varnishing. All paints, mediums and gels provided by Golden. Class size limited to 15.

Each workshop offers an opportunity for teachers and guest artists to share lesson plan ideas, view art in the Museum’s galleries, create hand-on art projects, network with other professionals, and earn certification hours.

Art Ed Central is a regional division of the Alabama Art Education Association. The MMFA Education Department and AAEA District Representative BeeLee Tullos from the Montgomery Academy are co-sponsors of these workshops.
