Photo Editing on the Go

Photo editing applications were originally designed for desktop computers. Yet, due to the popularity of tablet computing (iPad, Google Nexus, Microsoft Surface, etc), photo editing is right at our fingertips. For this workshop, participants will learn the fundamentals of photo editing using Adobe Photoshop Touch.* Participants are encouraged to bring phones or tablets. If you do not have one, the Museum will have two iPads available for practical, hands-on experience.

Costume Design Workshop

Using 1920s costume illustrations from the Ballet Russes, French Art Deco prints, the Ziegfield Follies and the Carnival of Venice as inspiration, participants will create costume pieces suitable for a fancy dress ball using a variety of materials and techniques.  Designs for masks, hats, capes, fans, sashes, scarves, gloves and other accessories will be created using craft techniques such as hand sewing, iron-on appliqué, fabric painting and gluing, among others. Space is limited to 20 participants. Sign up early for this unique opportunity to work with two well-known artists, with years of experience in theatrical costume design!

The Fragile and the Fleeting: A Multi-Media Workshop for Teens

Led by Sally Chambliss

Led by local art instructor Sally Chambliss, the workshop is offered in conjunction with the exhibition Once and Again: Still Lifes by Beth Lipman. Lipman works in glass and often photographs her sculptures in the landscape. Participants will create “glass” sculptures by manipulating plastic bottles, then photograph the works in the beautiful Blount Cultural Park, and post their creations on social media.
