Docent training has always been a high priority at the MMFA. Docents lead school and adult groups in the Museum and studio and act as Museum ambassadors to the public.
This year-long program prepares docents to present adult tours, school tours, studio activities, ARTWORKS presentations and outreach programs. Teaching credentials or art background are not required; if one has the interest, enthusiasm and time, the Museum’s education department will deliver the training needed for such valuable service.
Prospective Docents are:
- Enthusiastic
- People friendly
- Eager to learn and share
- Flexible
- Interested in giving tours that generate conversations with their audience through questions (inquiry-based)
- Ready to be the Museum's ambassador to the public
- Interested in leading groups of children, teens, and/or adults
