Studio Classes


Young Artists

Ages 3 to 5 with an adult caregiver

Children with their caregivers will enjoy learning to use basic elements of art in our studio. Each class will feature a different project, honing fine motor and social skills. The various series will familiarize participants with a range of art materials and techniques. Class size is limited to ten students per class.

Tuesdays: January 9, 23, February 6, 20, and March 6
Time: 3:45 to 4:30 P.M.
Cost: $8 members/$13 non-members per class; $30 members/$50 non-members for the series of five classes

Children and Youth

After School Art

Ages 6 to 9 and 10 to 13

The winter brings another fun-filled roster of after-school art classes. These two age-based series will include traditional mediums like painting, sculpting, and drawing as well as less familiar techniques and media like textiles and mosaics. Class size is limited to twelve students.

After School Art I
6 to 9 years old

Wednesdays: January 24, 31, February 7, 14, 21, 28, and March 7 and 21

Time: 4 to 5 P.M.

Ceramic Creations [CANCELED]

Ages 8 to 13

Students will learn basic hand-building techniques of coil and slab construction while creating unique animal flower pots and house sculptures decorated in the style of famous artists. Participants will use colorful ceramic underglazes and glazes to finish each project, and complete the four-week series of classes with a project using air dry clay. All materials are provided. The class is limited to ten students.

Homeschool Sculpture Class

Ages 8 to 16

Homeschool students ages 8 to 16 are encouraged to sign up for this exciting studio class. Lee Somers, a sculptural artist featured in the Uncommon Territory exhibition, will be teaching students about sculpture. Participants will visit the galleries and create their works in our studio with Mr. Somers. Students must bring a sack lunch and wear clothing suitable for artmaking. Class size is limited to fifteen students. Parents are welcome to stay during class, but those who wish to participate will be required to pay the fee for supplies.

Teens and Adults

Bookmaking Class

Ages 14 and older

In 1979 celebrated book artist Hedi Kyle created the first flag book, a sculptural paperwork. Now is your chance to create your three-dimensional book, examining what this deceptively simple bookbinding has to offer for your artistic expression. Additionally, the class will include exercises in creative writing, all resulting in a beautiful, one-of-a-kind artist book to be displayed and treasured. The workshop is open to everyone from beginners to practicing artists. A list of required supplies will be given at the time of registration. Some materials and tools provided.

Winter in the Studio

Winter in the Studio

Ages 6 to 13

Sign your child up for a fun winter-themed studio class while they are out of school during winter break. Each day will have a different seasonal art project they can bring home. All supplies and materials are provided. Sign up for one or both days.

Time: 10:30 to 11:30 A.M.
Cost: $5 members/$8 non-members per class

Fees and Refunds

Tuition cost will be refunded if a class is canceled. For a full refund, cancellations must be made no later than two weeks before the class, workshop, or camp begins. After that time a 25% an administrative fee will be charged.
